MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Specialized training for moderate and severe disabilities preferred.
JOB GOAL: Execute board, administrative, and school policies in a professional manner. Develop a classroom climate that provides for student welfare and safety while facilitating instruction in academic, behavior, and independent living skills. Assist in preparing, presenting, and evaluating lesson objectives. Show respect for worth of student, promote effective parent communication, and cooperate with staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
- Create an educational environment that is conducive to supporting and reinforcing learning, appropriate to the maturity, needs and interests of the students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain, control, and manage appropriate student behavior.
- Support and reinforce an academic program designed to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Prepare and support instruction for individual and small group academic and functional lessons.
- Assist in assessing the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide reports through progress reports, conferences, and/or Admissions and Release Committee meetings.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of involved individuals.
- Assess the learning needs of students on a regular basis and seek the assistance of district specialists as required.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with other members of the staff.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence through continuing education, workshops, in-service, university classes, and/or professional reading.
- Strive to follow the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Maintain accurate, complete records and their confidentiality as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Implement all policies and rules governing student conduct for the classroom and school-related activities as set forth by the Student Handbook.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Act in accordance with the by-law and policies as set forth by the Fulton County Board of Education, Kentucky Revised Statutes, and Kentucky Administrative Regulations.
- Provide delegated health service, including the administration of medication; the operation, maintenance, or health care through the use of medical equipment; or the administration of clinical procedures after being trained to perform the specific health service by a licensed health care professional.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 DAYS/ 7 HOURS PER DAY
